This has solved my issues and I plan to keep the device.I will say, this is far from perfect but I think it's an appropriate compromise for hi-res music for me. I will say I wasn't happy to have to pay an additional $3 for the MQA add-on but what am I going to do because my Tidal app wasn't reading MQA rendering with the app alone on my Galaxy note 8. Once I set that up to read directly form my device I haven't had another other types of distortion. The work around I've had to settle with is purchasing the USB Audio Play Pro for $8. I'm using both my MacBook pro and galaxy note 8 with my shure se846.Pros- great enhanced, clean and power sound- built well- extremely portableCons- USB c cable disconnects too easily (I cleaned my port as well, improved but still an issue)- having some interference/distortion issues (solved)- mqa playback on my devices (solved)Update -The main issue I was having, as stated by another reviewer, is the PowerAmp Pro app was having some sampling issues. Overall the sound is much cleaner and the Soundstage is enhanced. I'm also having an issue with the cobalt streaming in MQA format (purple dragonfly) on my phone, not on my MacBook pro.Audio quality is enhanced to what I would consider a significant degree. It's portable, extremely so, but your phone can't be jostled much at all without disconnecting the device. I'd also note that the USB c cable doesn't hold nearly as snuggly as the 3.5mm cable so I can't imagine using the cobalt while working out due to disconnects. I've emailed audioquest to see what the issue might be since there is clearly some interference with my phone. Complete and utter distortion for a few seconds then it goes back to normal. Apparently they are an official authorized seller of Audioquest and have a good reputation but my experience with them was a disaster. As for the Cobalt itself, I'm having some connection issues with my android device when initially starting a song which is very distracting. After putting it in the mail for a return I was told they in fact have a cable and would I just like that sent to me instead?! Obviously, that would have been the easiest solution, which is why it was my first question in contacting them. After telling me they didn't have one and that I'd need to return or exchange it I decided to exchange the product. I emailed them to just send me one so I could try the cobalt with my galaxy note 8. Originally purchased this product from World Wide Stereo and the included usb a to c cable was missing from the package.
